September 11

The thing I always take away from the anniversary of 9/11 is the fact that most of the victims were ordinary people who just got up and went to work on a lovely Tuesday morning. It reinforces my belief that I work to live and not the other way around.

Every year, it strikes me again as I watch the replay of all the footage of the tragedy. People just went to work.

Innocent people.

It could happen to anyone.

I realized that there are so many more important things in life. I can't give everything to a corporation who will never give me anything but a paycheck in the long run.

A paycheck is nice, don't get me wrong.

September 11  is a day of reflection for me and, work is not my biggest priority at the moment. I go, I do my job to the best of my ability to earn that paycheck.

But, I stop myself from feeling safe there-especially after what happened to my former supervisor.  No one is safe, there is no loyalty in the corporate world any more--there hasn't been for years, I know. But I'm still young enough to remember when there was...

So--more and more I find that I just want to be surrounded by the people and things that I love.
